Detailed itinerary:
Day 01: Shimla – Theog – Khara Patthar – Rorhu – Chargaon – Janglik – Janglik Thach.
(Driving duration 6.5 hours & hiking duration 2 hours) Elevation: 3000 m
In the morning after breakfast drive through the traces of Old Hindustan Tibet Road, via Theog and Kotkhai to reach Kharapatthar. Perched at the mountain top the hamlet of Kharapatthar offers magnificent views of snowcapped mountains and valleys loaded with apple orchards. Continue your drive past Rorhu to reach Janglik, the last village of Shimla.
From the village of Janglik a beautiful hike brings you to Janglik Thach. Reach your campsite and overnight in tents.
Day 02: Janglik Thach – Dayara Thach (Hiking duration 04 to 05 hours) Elevation: 3600 m)
After breakfast 02 hours drive brings us to village Tangnu. The drive follows bank of river Pabbar and is the most scenic valley with the remote countryside.
Trek start before Tangnu village, last village of District of Shimla. Janglik is stunning village, across tree line into alpine meadows, by the side of River Pabber, the first camp site, Dyara Thatch, welcomes you with bounty of rare Himalayan flowers blooming. Overnight in tents.
Day 03: Dayara Thach – Lithum (Hiking duration 05 – 06 hours) Elevation: 3900 m
Today after breakfast, get ready to trek to base camp Litham, at the base of Bhuran Pass. It is gradual walk following alpine meadows and offering magnificent views of snow capped mountains on the other side of Pabbar River. The valley is well known as Chandernaun valley. Overnight in dome tents.
Day 04: Lithum – Chandernahun lake – Lithum Hiking duration: 05 – 06 hours. Elevation: 4260 m
Today after early breakfast hike above lithum to explore the sacred lake of Chandernahun, from where River Pubber originates. Enjoy your packed lunch and later hike further to the base camp right under Buran pass. Overnight in tents.
Day 05: Lithum – Dayara – Janglik – Kharapatthar – Theog – Shimla (Hiking duration 04 – 05 hours) (Driving duration 6.5 hours)
Bidding goodbye to the mountains, after breakfast retrace your hike back to village Janglik and drive back to Shimla.
